Does one of these describe you?

  • I don't currently have the option to use Logic of English curriculum. I wish I had simple ways to incorporate some accurate phonics into my reading instruction.
  • I'm a parent, and I wish I had an easy way to teach my child the phonics behind all those sight words being assigned in school.
  • I'm a teacher, and I wish I could teach my students the reasons behind all the sight words I am required to teach.
  • I'm teaching Logic of English, I love it, and I wish I had a really simple way to introduce it to others in my community or school.

If so, this is a fantastic resource for you!

Sounding Out the Sight Words
A Guide to Teaching the Dolch Words through Phonics

Logic of English author Denise Eide and parent Cindy Kringelis created this series of "instant lessons" to help educators and parents teach the Dolch words logically, through phonics and an accurate understanding of how our language works. No more rote memory through endless flash card drill! With Sounding Out the Sight Words, rather than teaching a new sight word for your child to memorize, each day you teach one bite-size phonics concept in a two- to ten-minute lesson. The child practices the new concept by reading it in Dolch words and other common words. By the end of sixty-six lessons, instead of merely learning sixty-six Dolch words, students have gained the tools they need to read all 220 Dolch Words and 95 Dolch Nouns—and, in addition, to sound out thousands of other words!

Sounding Out the Sight Words is now available from the LOE Webstore as a PDF. You can also purchase it as a discounted package with four optional supplements recommended for use with the lessons: Basic Phonogram Flash Cards, Spelling Rule Flash Cards, Phonogram Game Cards, and the Phonogram and Spelling Game Book!
