Will be really helpful for teaching reading to children who are mathematical pattern thinkers.

A gem of a book that brings light to the way in which words are read and spelled. This is a very useful book for teachers, parents and anyone interested in bringing the joy of reading to our nation's children.

A clarion call to all teachers of reading. This book is a must read for anyone who cares about the future of our children and the welfare of our nation.

It looks fabulous - like a resource I've been looking for for about 15 years!

An outstanding resource for all educators and parents. With simple and clear explanations of the basic rules of spelling and phonics, Denise Eide has provided us with a long overdue manual for understanding the English language. The flashcards are high-quality and durable, and should be a staple in the schoolroom. I will definitely be recommending this book to our Classical Writing customers.

The best spelling and reading book ever!

We are absolutely loving this curriculum. Denise is so great at answering any questions that we may have. I have 4 children, 8th grade, 5th grade, 1st grade and preschool. Today all 4 of them sat down to do the phonogram cards together - it was funny. They are learning and helping each other out. I've started the youngest on the cursive, the 5th grader in the lessons and finally decided to also have the 8th grader just run through the lessons verbally for refresher!! This is a very good investment into your English curriculum!!!

The thrust of this book might be better described if the title was changed to The Heartbreak of English: A Logical Means of Recovery.

A Must-Read For Anyone Involved In Teaching Literacy.

I was amazed at how the author managed to put so much information in a paperback... I have purchased some voluminous linguistic manuals that do not even come close to matching the wealth of information found in this book.

Literacy is what led the common people out of serfdom and into enlightenment. "Uncovering the Logic of English: A Common-Sense Solution to America's Literacy Crisis" is a guide to understanding the complex language of English which often seems quite overwhelming to early learners and can lead to reductions in literacy. Hoping to serve as a rulebook for English and explain the anomalies that are rife within the language, "Uncovering the Logic of English" is a thoughtful guide for anyone who wants to understand language better or is looking for advice to help them teach it.

I teach 4th grade to the top students in the grade level. I'm reading them this book, word for word, so that they will understand the English language better. We're taking it a tiny bit at a time, so that we absorb what is written. Even though they're the brightest of the bright, they will need this information for learning a foreign language, mastering English, or perhaps to show someone in their lives how to read that is having difficulty. I love it!!

I teach language arts to middle school students with autism. My literal, logical thinking students are frustrated daily by the seemingly endless exceptions to the rules of the English language. Until today, the only answer I ever had for them was, 'The English language is full of exceptions to the rules. Be glad you are learning it as your native language and have had the benefits of years of immersion.' This is of little comfort to them. I finally have a comprehensive list of the real rules of the English language! The best thing of all is that experts talk a lot about using the obsessions of students with autism to teach them. Most of my students are obsessed with rules (memorizing them, following them to the very literal letter, and making sure others follow them as well), so I am confident that they will enthusiastically devour and retain this information! For the first time since learning to diagram sentences in college, when parts of speech rules really clicked for me, I am excited to teach English!

I believe this will be a significant book. I'll word-of-mouth the thing like crazy, I know already.

I am going to be recommending this book to a lot of people.

I wanted to say 'thank you' for this time-saving book.

I am teaching the Essentials to a Kindergardener and a pre-K who recently turned 5. They are doing very well. Grasping the grammar, enjoying dictating words to me to write on the board, they have fun with bingo, and get particularly proud of themselves as they recognize sounds for multi-letter phonograms, and as they recall spelling rules. They are retaining much more than I expected. I thought they would need more repetition than they do, surprisingly I think they pick it up a bit faster than myself at times.

The book Uncovering the Logic of English by Denise Eide is the most concise appraisal and explanation of the English language I have ever read.

Thank you, for this time-saving book... This book has managed to cover so many important facts in as few pages as possible. Your writing style is also very direct and easy to understand - you are a very concise writer. I have not put this book down since I received it and I have learned so much. The Appendix was just amazing. It is amazing how you managed to organized so much information in so few pages. This book has answered every question I have without having to consult confusing linguistic manuals. You provided the clearest and best definition of vowels and consonants that I have ever read. Everything is readily applicable and I am ready to teach what I have learned.
- Teacher and Parent
The most comprehensive list of spelling and pronunciation rules that I have ever come across.
- Homeschool Parent
Everything is presented in an easy to read format and the writing is very clear and not cumbersome at all. I was able to start using the information in the book immediately without needing any additional materials. This book really empowered me with the right tools and it is a shame our students are not taught reading and spelling this way.... Don't waste your money on incomplete books and programs (like Hooked on Phonics). Uncovering the Logic of English is the only book you need to teach reading and spelling to anyone (kids or adults).

Our schools could be revolutionized if this way of teaching reading and spelling were adopted. This book has consistent spelling rules that make words that you thought were exceptions, logical! This book teaches you how using multi-letter phonograms makes sounding out words easier and also with fewer "exceptions to the rule". The crazy thing is, this is not new! This information has been around for a long time, so why aren't we using it?
- Parent
I think your book and materials are going to be a huge success. This may well be the fine-tuning this sort of approach has needed for some time.
